We are 5 miles from the market town of Cockermouth and 8 miles from the tourist centre of Keswick, with easy access to our beautiful North Western and Western fells. The glorious scenery of Crummock Water and Buttermere is a few miles away ~ bring your Wainwrights! Red squirrels and many birds visit the garden. The C2C cycle route passes within a quarter of a mile of the door. This cycle friendly establishment understands the importance of giving you locked cycle storage. We are within easy reach of Whinlatter Forest Park, where there are easy to moderate walks, and great paths for running and mountain biking, including a newly-opened 15k bike trail. The village has the Wheatsheaf Inn and Winder Hall Restaurant; Kirkstile Inn, which has its own award-winning micro brewery, is four miles away. Cockermouth and Keswick between them have many eating houses. The centrally heated double room is plainly and tastefully decorated, with its own private bathroom. It has tea-making facilities, with a selection of home-baked biscuits. There is a hairdryer, and ironing and drying facilities are available. We have loads of books! Home cooking on the Aga; local produce is used where available, including free range eggs from within the village. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements. Why not have breakfast on the patio if the weather’s OK? Packed lunches, comprising filled rolls, crisps, fruit, a cereal or chocolate bar and a drink can be provided at a cost of £4.
